my story

MY PROFESSIONAL WORK HAS ALSO TAKEN ME INTO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND COMMUNITY COMMUNICATIONS.

Working in the public sector has taught me a different side of photography and videography. The work has to communicate clearly because the audience is not always looking for entertainment. Sometimes they need information. Sometimes they need context. Sometimes the responsibility is simply to document something accurately. That experience has made me more intentional behind the camera.

Whether I am photographing a property, producing a community video, or covering a live event, I try to understand what matters before deciding how to capture it.

FINDING MY DIRECTION

I GREW UP IN LOS ANGELES AND LATER MOVED OUT TO THE DESERT. WE DIDN’T HAVE MUCH, AND I NEVER EXPECTED PHOTOGRAPHY OR VIDEO TO BECOME SUCH A BIG PART OF MY LIFE.

I FIRST PICKED UP A CAMERA IN HIGH SCHOOL. I TOOK PHOTOS, EDITED A FEW VIDEOS, AND MOSTLY JUST EXPERIMENTED. THERE WASN’T A PLAN BEHIND IT. I JUST KEPT FINDING MYSELF COMING BACK TO A CAMERA.

SOMEHOW, I WAS ALWAYS DRAWN TO IT.

Over time, I started realizing that what interested me wasn’t only making something look good. It was capturing a place, a person, or a moment in a way that made someone else feel like they were there.

That curiosity never really went away.

FOR A LONG TIME, PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO WERE SOMETHING I DID BECAUSE I ENJOYED THEM. EVENTUALLY, THEY BECAME THE KIND OF WORK I WANTED TO PURSUE. My path into this industry wasn’t traditional. I spent years working outside of the creative field before deciding to take photography and videography more seriously.

Today, my work focuses on photography and video across real estate, live events, and local government. Working in local government means I’m rarely doing the same thing twice. One day I may be covering a community event, the next I’m photographing portraits for department directors or the mayor, then producing video content for marketing and public communication. That variety has pushed me to become more adaptable and intentional with how I approach each project.
